UKM-UDE Double Degree Ph.D. and Dr.-Ing Program

Doctoral candidates are offered the unique chance to get a double degree as Ph.D. and Dr.Ing., execute research in an international scientific environment and become familiar with different cultures. PromISE (International Studies for Engineering) is a study program arranged for UKM and UDE’s Ph.D. Students who have completed their Bachelor Degree and Master Degree in engineering. It is a joint program between UDE and UKM and implements a ‘Sandwich Scheme’, whereby students will be facilitated by two supervisors, one from UDE and UKM. Both partner universities should complement each other. Such arrangements will be retained in a Cotutelle Agreement. Subsequent to the completion of program, the student will be awarded with two degrees; Dr.-Ing from UDE and Ph.D from UKM. The course will take approximately three to four years and is extendable under certain circumstances. Duration of the research at each of the two universities is minimum one year.

Admission requirements

Qualification – Candidates should hold a Bachelor and Master Degree in Engineering or related fields with excellent grades. Candidates should have a strong quantitative methodological background and a genuine interest in carrying out active research in an international environment.

Topic – The research projects shall be interdisciplinary by nature, combining different fields of science, either within faculties of Engineering or bridging to other faculties. All topics shall also combine strength and support both partner universities and societies.

Supervisors – Supervisor 1 should be from UDE if candidate is currently studying at UDE, while Supervisor 2 should be from UKM. Vice-versa, Supervisor 1 should be from UKM if candidate is currently studying at UKM, while Supervisor 2 should be from UDE.
